-
START EARLY!
Begin collecting as soon as you receive your pledge kit and carry your sponsor sheet with you wherever you go.
-
ASK EVERYONE AND ANYONE!
Ask friends, family, co-workers, neighbors etc. to sponsor you. Pass your sponsor sheet around the lunch room or conference table. Look in your checkbook and ask the people to whom you write checks to make a donation. Get out your holiday card list and do your own mailing.
-
TRAVEL THE INFORMATION SUPERHIGHWAY.
E-mail and the Internet are great ways to invite people to support your efforts. Be sure to take advantage of the great fundraising e-tools at Your Participation Center. -
BE INFORMED ABOUT MS.
People are more likely to give money to a cause they understand. Read the information about MS on the back of the pledge kit. If you would like more information or if you get a question you can’t answer, please give us a call or click here to learn more. -
ASK WITH ENERGY AND ENTHUSIASM!
Talk about what your involvement means to you. Your excitement and commitment will shine through.
-
SET AN EXAMPLE.
Choose someone you know to be generous as the first sponsor on your pledge sheet (this could be you!) This sponsor will serve as an example to your following sponsors.
-
COLLECT AS YOU GO.
Collect your pledges when you solicit them, then you won’t have to go back to your sponsors again or track them down!
-
SHARE YOUR SUCCESS.
After the walk, let your sponsors know about your success - what fun you had, how much money you raised, etc. Be sure to thank them for their support.
-
DOUBLE YOUR DOLLARS!
Don’t forget to check the matching gifts list on the back of the pledge sheet. Your company may have a matching gifts program which can double or even triple your pledge dollars. Ask your sponsors if their company has a matching program. They can double their dollars on your behalf too!
-
GET THE PUBLIC INVOLVED
Call local supermarkets to find out if they allow soliciting outside their store. You can raise anywhere from $100 to $500 in 4 hours.
